How to cut rebar? Cutting Tools

Repair is a rather complex process that requires not only time and physical effort, but also the availability of various equipment. And if we take into account the fact that all modern buildings are built using rebar, then during the repair the question often arises: what and how to cut the rebar?

First of all, you need to understand that the fittings are of different diameters and, therefore, the cutting tools are also different.

One of the simplest and most affordable tools is the Afacan 6M - 16M rebar cutting shears.

When choosing, look at the marking:

  • 6M – scissors are designed for cutting reinforcing bars, bolts, pins of cables and wires whose diameter does not exceed 6 mm;
  • 8M – scissors are designed for cutting reinforcing bars, bolts, pins of cables and wires whose diameter does not exceed 8 mm, etc.

Scissors for cutting or, as they are also called, bolt cutters triple the effort you put in, so using them is quite simple. In addition, no connection to the electrical network is required to work with them.

If you are dealing with thicker rebar during construction, then a manual rebar cutting machine Afacn 22M and 26MX can be an excellent option. Marking, as in the case of scissors, indicates the maximum diameter of fittings or wires that can be cut with this tool.

How to cut rebar correctly?

Depending on the diameter of the armature and the amount of work, it is necessary to choose the right tool. It can be a bolt cutter, a manual machine for cutting rebar, an electric machine for cutting rebar or a grinder.

Before cutting, the reinforcement must be marked and securely fixed.

Is it possible to sharpen knives in machine tools?

When you use scissors or a rebar cutting machine for a long time, you will definitely encounter the fact that the cutting quality has deteriorated. The reason for this is that the knife is blunted. This is not a reason to panic and you do not need to run for a new tool. Knives can be sharpened. This is done on special equipment. At the same time, it is even possible to eliminate small chips on the knives. And so that the work does not stand while the knives are being sharpened, an additional set of knives is always included with manual machines.

A properly selected tool is the key to safe and high–quality work. Therefore, when choosing scissors or a manual rebar cutting machine, carefully study all technical specifications and rules of use. So, you can easily complete the tasks, and the tool will serve you for many years.
